You can simply step on to the sand at Palm Cove, walk south for about 2km, step off the sand at Clifton Road and you'll have a cocktail in your hand in moments.

At high tide or when the heat is up, take the shady path beside the beach:
Walk south on Triton Street, turn left just after the Pullman, and follow the winding rainforest trail through the mangroves. You’ll pop out near Upolu Esplanade, pass Deadman’s Gully (friendlier than it sounds) and the Clifton Beach swimming enclosure (a dip before lunch?), then follow the path to Clifton Road and you're just 100 meters from the cocktails at Coco Mojo.
